I love to repurpose clothes so I can wear them in other seasons. We do it all the time with basics: tees, tanks, jeans..we just layer when it gets colder. Well, it’s that same idea for a summer dress! They don’t have to stay in your closet after the temps drop. You simply can layer them with thick cozy sweater, scarves, or jackets. Also, choice of shoewear is what takes the look from summer to fall as well. In early Fall you could get a way with cute ankle booties, but as it get colder, knee high or over the knee boots are the perfect match to a dress. Also this is a perfect last-minute outfit for Thanksgiving, with items you already have in your closet!
To make this look work, I recommend using a summer dress that has colors or patterns that would work well for fall. This dress had the dark blue and some maroon tines throughout, so it was perfect for fall. Bright pinks, yellows etc or summery florals may not work as well. Have fun styling!
You can see in the photo below how the dress looked when I wore it over the summer in Paris. For this summer to fall look, I layered this cozy white laceup sweater that I’ve been wearing ALL fall, suede over the knee boots, and a felt hat. Voilà, a perfect, easy fall look!
